Evan Rachel Wood
Evan Rachel Wood was born on the 7th of
September, 1987 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her father, Ira David Wood III is a
stage writer and actor, and her mother Sara Wood is an actress and acting
coach. She has two brothers: Dana Wood, a musician, and Ira David Wood IV, who
has also appeared. Evan and her brothers sometimes appeared at Theatre In The
Park in Raleigh where her father started and where the director is executive.
At the age of five, she screen-tested against Kirsten Dunst for the lead role in
Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994) after a long
auditioning process. In the year 1996, she moved to Los Angeles along with her
brother Ira and mom. She has been a prominent character in television shows
film, feature films, and TV movies since. She has appeared in Practical Magic
(1998) as well as in the comedy S1m0ne (2002) as Al Pacino's daughter. She the
film followed with Thirteen (2003) in which she starred alongside Holly Hunter.
Her breakout role as Tracy in "Thirteen" earned her a Golden Globes
nomination and a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination. At the time of this SAG
nomination, she was the youngest actress nominated for the Leading Role
category. She won an award of a Golden Globe and Emmy nomination for
"Outstanding Supporting Actress in the form of a Miniseries or Movie"
for her portrayal of Veda Pierce in the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce (2011).
She also earned acclaim for her stunning performance in the role of Stephanie,
Mickey Rourke's estranged daughter in Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler (2008).
Daughter of Ira David Wood III and Sara Wood. Ira David Wood III's younger
sister. She is a certified dancer. She is a singer, loves to do horseback
riding, and rollerblade. She holds a black belt in tae-kwon do. Is still in
touch with a majority of her Once and Again (1999) co-stars: Mischa Barton,
Julia Whelan and Shane West.
