Meg Ryan
Meg Ryan, blonde-haired and blue-eyed
she was born Margaret Mary Emily Hyra in Fairfield Connecticut to Susan
(Duggan) an ex- actor and English teacher and Harry Hyra, a maths teacher.
Ruthenian and Polish, Irish, German, and German descent. "Hyra" Hyra,
her maternal grandmother's maiden name is Ruthenian. Meg has graduated from
Bethel High School, Bethel in May 1979. Meg relocated to New York City and
studied journalism at New York University. In order to earn money while
completing her studies, Meg went into acting under the name Meg Ryan. 1981 was
her first big screen appearance. She portrayed Candice Bergen's little girl in
the film directed by George Cukor Rich and Famous (1981). She was cast in the
character as Betsy in the soap opera As the World Turns (1956) after she had a
go at. From 1982 to 1984, she was a part of the show's cast. Meg also played a
role in the television series One of the Boys (1982) However, this show was
eventually cancelled. In 1984, Meg relocated to Hollywood and was offered a
position with the western television Series Wildside (1985). Meg had a small
role in Top Gun (1986), which resulted in her being cast in Steven Spielberg's
Innerspace (1987) in which she was a co-star with Dennis Quaid. Meg was also a
co-star with Quaid in the remake of D.O.A. (1988) and the couple tied the knot
on Saint Valentine's Day in 1991. Meg appeared in When Harry Met Sally...
(1989), that made the scene at the restaurant famous. Meg was twice nominated
for the Golden Globe and BAFTA. In 1990, she co-starred with Tom Hanks in Joe
Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she played three roles as
DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. Meg was also seen alongside Tom in the critically
acclaimed Sleepless in Seattle (1993) for which she was again nominated for the
Golden Globe. In 1994, Meg decided to act against type when she appeared as an
alcoholic wife and mother in When a Man Loves a Woman (1994). After that, Meg
returned to her "cute" I.Q. (1994) as well as French Kiss (1996). The
year 1994 was the year that Meg was awarded the Harvard Hasty Pudding Award for
being "Woman of the Year" and was also voted as one of "The 50
most beautiful people in the world in 1994" by People Magazine.
